The Bodrum Peninsula

Altinkum

Situated north west of Bodrum and a transfer time of approximately 1 hour lies the beach resort of Altinkum, aptly translated as ‘Golden Sands’ this family friendly resort boasts numerous beaches and family friendly attractions including a water park, fairground a newly developed marina shopping and dining arcade as well as the adjoining working town of Didim.

Altinkum boasts the famous temple of Apollo and ruins of the Ionian city of Didyma a secret place from the 8th century BC easily reached from the resort center by Dolmus.

Scattered with intricate coves and a bustling promenade during the summer months, Altinkum has an abundance of seaside restaurants and shops lining some of the beach areas, whereas other beaches are quiet and relaxed away from the main tourist center.

Hotels available are a mix of 5 star resorts popular with families, smaller family run hotels and apartment complexes.

The atmosphere in Altinkum is as relaxed or as vibrant as you would wish due to the array of choice for holiday makers, all are friendly and very welcoming to visitors of all ages.

Akbuk

Bordering and visible from Altinkum is the sleepy resort of Akbuk, this picturesque small resort truly is a best kept secret, the beaches are truly breath-taking, Akbuk has a small harbor and is popular with families and couples looking for a sleepy beach based experience away from any hustle the more busier areas of Altinkum.

 

The green Kiran mountains provides an exquisite lush pine forest backdrop against the shallow and turquoise crystal waters which are non tidal, the fishing village has retained its charm over time and the pace here is slower than its neighbor of Altinkum, here in Akbuk there are many traditional bars and restaurants lining the promenade, most with exceptional views of the coast and landscapes. Its proximity to Altinkum ensures that visitors can visit the area easily by Dolmus or taxi,

 

Akbuk has a good selection of shops including local butchers, supermarkets and bakers, with its outstanding beauty, laid back atmosphere and village charm Akbuk really is where time stops, and relaxation begins.

Yesilkent

Yesilkent is a picture postcard village approximately 10 minutes’ drive from Altinkum, this sleepy resort is the ideal relaxation haven, the bays are magnificent shallow turquoise non tidal waters and golden sand set in front of pine forests and olive trees, this area is popular with families and couples. There are a variety of restaurant options available and some hotels including a 5 star all inclusive options.

Kuşadası

Kuşadası is a beach resort town on Turkey’s western Aegean coast. Ideally situated for visiting the ruins of Ephesus and the mother Marys house. With its smart marina Kusadasi is also a significant cruise ship destination as well as options to visit the Greek islands. The promenade is lined with shops bars and restaurants overlooking the magnificent turquoise waters of the Aegean. Dominating the town is the Byzantine castle of Pigeon Island. The old town is truly charming with its bizarre atmosphere and extensive range of shops and restaurants. Bar street with its vibrant abundance of bars and restaurants and entertainment really is the place to enjoy a lively night out. There are various beaches and coves, ladies beach being a popular option for visitors, there are a wide variety of shops and 2 markets and an 18 golf course in Kusadasi, lots of water sports, jeep safaris and daily boat trips.
